Here are a couple of tips I do prier to tryouts for all star cheer:
- Diet diet diet! you should watch what you eat all year long if you want to look good in that uniform! also if your a flyer you don't want to become to heavy!
- stretch! I can express how important stretching is! it is basically everything it helps you in every area in a routine. Also helps your jumps extremely! if your a flyer stretching at least 3 times a day is not optional it required!
- workout! its easy to loose a lot of your tumbling stunting due to not enough strength. You don't want to be taken out of a stunt sequence because your not strong enough ! You should do lots of arm and leg they both help with tumbling, stunting, and jumping .. the major parts of routine!
- Do extra tumbling classes! Your tumbling will take you far in the cheer world! The more tumbling skills you have the better chance at a higher level you have! something that may hold you back is a mental block ( I have one and know how frustrating they are) you have to just push through it! it wont be easy , but don't let it hold you back!
- Jumps. you should practice on your grass or anywhere you have jumping that way when you get on the spring mats they will be amazing.Something that helped me was putting ankle and wrist weights on! also do "cheer frogs" there like frog jumps but instead of jumping straight up, jump up into a cheer jump ( toe touch, pike, etc)
hope i helped ! comment below your opinions!
